Good title for my book yeah? But I did, to be honest I had a really good nights sleep apart from the wind knocking at the shutters …. Breakfast consists of crusty bread, jams, cheese spread, cake, juice and coffee so cant complain. Also, its really clean …. todays photo is the view from the top of the Hostel. Catch you later.

Day 2 In Santorini
Sleepless Night in Santorini
…… the Hostel is pretty good here … not that I have had any experience of other hostels but my expectations have certainly been heightened! The sleepless bit was due to a couple of phone alarms going off early but apart from that I don’t care that I share a bathroom or a dorm with about 12 others … everyone seemed very respectful of each other … well so far. The photo is of a little isolated beach about a 45 minute walk from Oìa with a quaint shack cafe. Pretty shaley beach and dark volcanic sand mixing between tiny wood Chipping’s. Water warm and friendly! Other photo is a quick snap that I took at the hostel. Going to Firi later so more updates.
Island No. 4 – Santorini
Arrived in Santorini off the ferry from Naxos. Just a 2 hour hop on the Blue Star. 2 buses later and I am in Oìa … and in a Youth hostel! As you can see by the photo it has a cute courtyard. Sleeping in a mixed dorm will be interesting though!!
Santorini is a very beautiful island as you will see once I upload more photos in the next few days. Its a very romantic island but you don’t get much for your euro here … magnificent white buildings cut into the volcanic rocks. The best sunset ever ….. photos to follow.
Food In Naxos
I felt I needed to write about the food here in Naxos. Those of you who have already sampled greek food (and are a fan) probably wont find this surprising but I am going to harp on about it anyway. I found this amazing restaurant in the centre of the Naxos city which was teaming with local people. This is exactly where I wanted to be. I ordered a special Naxos Greek salad which consisted of tomatoes, feta, water melon and barley rusk with added peppermint. It was to die for. This was obviously washed down with a large glass of red wine. I then went into the city where the hustle and bustle was taking place. Naxos city is so young and vibrant with lots of trendy bars and restaurants, waffle and ice cream kiosks serving lush frozen greek yogurts topped with just about anything you want. Mine was obviously topped with chocolate!! Enough of this talk about greek food .., Santorini tomorrow. Seawhathappens!
Today in Naxos I have done not a Greek deal.
My head said ” go hire a scooter and explore the island. Visit those breath taking mountains and take in those fresh mountainous aromas”. My heart said “take your book, towel and treats and head off to a private rock and sit with your feet dangling in the water and seawhathappens”. I followed my heart.
Day 2 In Naxos
My room is on the top floor right in the centre of Naxos city and its ideal! Great views over the city, has its own roof top space (with a washing line – bonus) saves hanging your undies from the shower! Not bad wifi signal if I stand overlooking the young Greek God’s appt ( another bonus). No air con though but my big greek fan did a great job last night of keeping me cool!
I did get lost slightly though walking back through the lovely traditional roads as they all looked the same from my ouzo’d eyes!! Breakfast photo today plus my view whilst enjoying a Gorgeous Greek Stuffed Aubergine! Will update you more tonight! Happy Days!
Island No. 3 – Naxos
Just an hour on the ferry from Paros I found Naxos to be buzzing with energy! Young and vibrant, energetic island! Already found an amazing beach with beautiful golden sand lined with pretty restaurants and cafes. Managed to barter at the Port for a 2 night stay with breakfast for €60. Not bad as he started at €90! Got my own bathroom too. Its in the centre of the town and on the top floor so has a big roof garden and overlooks the town. See photos. St George’s beach is full of young beautiful people ( gonna fit right in) I hear some of you say!!! Will update you soon once I have done some more exploring! Tip … good to grab accommodation at the Port as not only can you negotiate prices but you also get a free transfer … mine was in a Mercedes!
Last Night In Paros
I sure am going to miss this island …. I may even drop back … definitely recommended and certainly Panorama Studios ( which is where I stayed). George and Dora could not be anymore helpful … George is giving me a lift down to the ferry port in the morning and they have tonight given me a little gift … wrapped up … will open it tomorrow!! If you want some chill out time with added beautiful beaches, gorgeous food, very friendly people and of course idyllic weather then Paros is the place to be. I truly have been spoilt!
Island No. 2 – Antiparos
Approximately 20 min boat ride from the main port in Paros. Tiny island lined with lovely white solitary beaches. The port is filled with yachts scattered between tiny fishing boats. My visit to the caves, north of the island was somewhat challenging on the bus! Packed out so standing room only … I didn’t care though as that meant I had panoramic views going up and what breathtaking views they were too. Will upload on my fb page! I have added a few here as a taster. Will update later … my last night in Paros. Be sorry to leave … first island of my trip …(first love).
